DISC is a model that allows you to gain insight into a person’s behaviour. With a DISC analysis, you visualise the scores of each behavioural style. The combination between the scores says something about how you come across to another person in your behaviour. The behavioural styles measured are: Dominance, Influence, Stability and Conformism. But what do the behavioural styles mean and what does this say about a person? In this blog, we explain to you what DISC red means.

Part of your job as a manager, team lead, director, team leader or other type of leader is to give direction to the talents and qualities of your team members. The better you are at doing this as a manager, the more successful your team will ultimately be. Each manager usually does this in the way that seems or suits him or her best. Yet there is often a similarity in the way leaders manage their team if you look at it from the DISC-theory. Dominant, managers with a red style have similarities in terms of leadership, as do managers with a yellow, green or blue behavioural style. Below you can read some characteristics of leaders per DISC style that characterise their way of managing. Read through them and see what you as a leader might recognise in them…. Perhaps there are clues in them that you can reflect on and benefit from.
For example, when someone has done DISC analysis in the past, they often don’t remember which behavioural styles were predominant, but the colours are remembered. The colours […]
It is often easier to lead a team than to lead yourself. Personal leadership is about leading yourself. That this is not always easy is clear. Being aware of your own behaviour is the start point. When you are aware of the strengths and weaknesses of your behaviour, you can then work on those aspects you would like to change. Of course, you as a person are unique and your situation is not always comparable to that of others.
We spend a lot of hours in our lives with our colleagues. Besides the content of work, having enjoyable colleagues is often an important prerequisite. After all, experiencing job satisfaction is largely caused by our colleagues. When team members can come to each other, help each other where necessary and are there for each other, it has a positive effect on the working atmosphere. It increases the team spirit, which in turn benefits the company’s results. It is therefore important for both employees and the organisation to create a good working atmosphere. But what if the atmosphere is bad? How can you improve it and how can DISC help?
Every DISC behavioural style has characteristics that you can observe almost immediately in both verbal and non-verbal communication with your surroundings. Below, you can read how to recognise the relevant DISC style. This does not mean that someone with a red behavioural style must have all the characteristics. But the more a certain behavioural style is present in someone, the more likely you are to come across several characteristics.
