Motivators assessment

DISC Boulevard’s philosophy is that personal development begins with awareness and self-insight. To gain this insight, we offer various assessments, including the motivators assessment. This questionnaire identifies a person’s inner motivators. It reveals what the individual values in life and what drives them to take action. It is a valuable tool for professionals to help individuals, teams and organisations in their development.

What is a motivators assessment?

The motivators assessment is based on the theory of Dr Eduard Spranger. The events a person experiences and the way in which these are interpreted shape a person’s values and, consequently, their motivators. We distinguish between six motivators.

  • Theoretical motivator
  • Business motivator
  • Autonomous motivator
  • Aesthetic motivator
  • Social motivator
  • Idealistic motivator

Our motivators determine the direction we choose in life and spur us to action.

How is the motivators assessment structured?

In addition to the general descriptions of the motivators, the report contains a detailed explanation of the results relating to the motivators and what this means in practice. What is covered for each motivator?

  • The score for each motivator.
  • What are the characteristics associated with the motivator?
  • What are the qualities associated with this result?
  • What energises this participant?
  • What are the potential areas for development?

Based on these topics, you can provide direction for, for example, personal development, team development or leadership development. In addition, we are seeing that motivators are also being used more and more frequently in recruitment.

The added value of a motivators assessment

Because motivators reside in our subconscious, they are often less visible. This makes them harder to identify. A motivators assessment helps to gain insight into individual motivators and the different motivators within a group. By completing the questionnaire, people gain an understanding of what is important to them in life and what their inner motivators are. The assessment is helpful in:

  • Recruiting new staff; do the motivators of a candidate align with the organisation and the role?
  • When taking the next step in someone’s career.
  • Providing managers with insight into what their staff consider important in life.
  • Fostering mutual understanding and respect within teams, thereby building better relationships.
